Meet our Team

Our Team looking after your needs

Val Cook

Practice Manager

My working life started in the hotel/hospitality industry, where I was a receptionist. Then I became assistant manager for many years with a popular hotel chain. Fed up with long unsociable hours I made a career change when I was 40. I successfully applied for a receptionist position at a dental practice in Romanby, which is now OHDC. It’s a really nice, well working team.

Being Practice Manager in such a friendly warm environment makes my day to day job an absolute pleasure. Having been there so long, many of the patients are more like friends. I would like to think that new patients pick up on this and soon feel relaxed in, what are often, not so pleasant reasons for their visit. Our reception desk, where I feel most at home is in the heart of our waiting room. It’s a lovely way to really get to know you.

My family is spread all over the country from Glasgow to Devon, but we are still a close knit bunch. This leaves me little time for hobbies. My spare time is spent on the A1 or the Trans Pennine Line visiting family but every moment spent travelling is worth it when I get there.

Becca Smith

Dental Nurse

GDC No. 313127

Having worked in retail for 10 years I was more than ready for a career change!

I have always enjoyed working with people so I was over the moon to be given the opportunity to join the team here at Orchard House.

I am really enjoying my time here so far and I have learnt so much. I feel like I have been welcomed to the team and every day I am continuing to learn new things.

I am a busy mum of three so at the weekends I spend time with my children and my little sausage dog.

I qualified as a dental nurse in 2008 and have worked at a number of different practices over the years. I have to say Orchard House Dental Care really is one of the best places I have worked.

The team are super supportive and there are always opportunities to learn and grow .While working at Orchard House I have completed training in providing Hydrafacials and look forward to further opportunities.

When I am not at work I spend my spare time with my husband and our two boys enjoying fun days out and walks in the countryside.
