Cryotherapy For Skin Tag Removal

Cosmetic procedures such as skin tags, milia and cherry angiomas are no longer being treated by many doctors on the NHS. With Cryotherapy you can now have these treatments at Orchard House.

What is a skin tag?

A skin tag is a common soft harmless lesion that appears to hang off the skin. Skin tags develop in both men and women as we grow older. They can be skin coloured or darker and range in size from 1mm to 5cm. Skin tags are most often found in the skin folds such as around the neck, in armpits or around the waist.

What causes skin tags?

The exact cause of skin tags is unknown. However, the following factors may play a role:

  • Chaffing and irritation from skin rubbing together
  • High levels of growth factors
  • Metabolic syndrome, obesity
  • Human papillomavirus (wart virus)

  • Cryotherapy Treatment destroys unwanted Skin Lesions by freezing the inter-cellular fluid within the skin cells. This causes the cells to shrivel and die.

  • Because Cryotherapy is targeted and precise (when used in expertly trained hands), there is no collateral damage to healthy tissue.

  • The Treated Area may go darker over a few weeks, but will return to normal pigmented skin in about 6 weeks.

  • For many Skin Lesions only one quick treatment is necessary.
