Botox Anti-wrinkle Injections
Does it hurt?
The procedure is largely pain free. There will be mild discomfort, which is experienced due to the small needle injection involved. You may notice some soreness in the injection site directly after the treatment, but this should subside quickly.
Is it safe?
Botulinum toxin A has been in medical use for more than four decades, and it is administered in such a way that it works locally at the injection site to relax targeted muscles. Like all medical procedures, there are potential risks which will be discussed during consultation. This is a well-established procedure when carried out by appropriately trained clinicians.
What happens after treatment?
You can carry on with your day as normal, although we advise that you avoid strenuous activity/saunas/other facial treatments for at least 24 hours.
After 10-14 days you will notice a reduction in movement of the areas injected and improvement in your lines/wrinkles.
What areas can benefit from this treatment?
The treatment is most effective when used to reduce the signs of ageing in the following places:
- Forehead/brow
- Between the eyes
- Sides of the eyes
How long do the effects last?
The results usually last for around 4 to 6 months, after which you may wish to return for a repeat treatment.
Is ‘Botox’ the only option for people who want to get rid of their wrinkles?
No, there are several treatment options depending on the type of lines and skin quality. In some cases, dermal fillers or skin rejuvenation treatments may be more appropriate. Your consultation will help determine the most suitable approach.
Our consultation session will help you determine which treatment is suitable for you.
What are the possible side effects?
Most side effects are short-lived and mild, the most common being mild bruising to the site of the injection. Some patients also report mild headaches shortly after the treatment, but these usually subside within 24 hours.
